Strategy: Roots’s Primary Blended Model Type: Individual Rotation

Context

Roots primarily uses the individual rotation model for blended learning, where a “student has an individualized playlist and does not necessarily rotate to each available station or modality. An algorithm or teacher(s) sets individual student schedules” (Christensen Institute). While individual rotation is the primary model, elements of the flex and lab rotation model are also evident throughout the day.

The following illustration show's Roots's Grove layout, which accommodates individual rotation through different learning stations.

The grove is an area at Roots where students and teachers have choice around where and how they learn and work with students.
