Advice: Competence in choosing the right measures

Developing the necessary skills to align measurement activities with implementation objectives, and selecting reliable, valid measures that are appropriate for specific measurement purposes

Context

Working together to bridge the evidence and implementation cycles involves shifting roles and developing new skills to ensure that measurement activities and questions are in service of and relevant to implementation goals and objectives.

All stakeholders need to understand the instructional problems being tackled, and how they relate to what is being implemented, what the overall goals for implementation are, and how measurement activities align with them. In addition, all stakeholders need to know if the data being used to determine what the evidence says are accurate and representative of what we are interested in measuring.
