CICS Primary Blended Model Type: Individual Rotation

Overview

West Belden primarily uses the individual rotation model for blended learning, where a “student has an individualized playlist and does not necessarily rotate to each available station or modality. An algorithm or teacher(s) sets individual student schedules” (Christensen Institute). Additional approaches, such as station rotation and flex, are also implemented models, and work in conjunction with the individual rotation model to best cater to student needs.

Teachers determine student groupings during common planning time, which occurs for at least 90 minutes each day. Depending on how students are performing, groups can evolve frequently. Students not specifically working in groups know to be working on individual work through their Personalized Learning Plans.
