Home device access to extend learning beyond school time

Context

Many students at Roots are able to take their devices home at night and on the weekends. Students who have internet access outside of school are able to access their playlists and work through online content. Those without internet access are still able to download books at school and read them at home.

Students earn the privilege to take home iPads by demonstrating good behaviors, such as taking good physical care of the iPad. Roots is adding more structure to its iPad privileges in the 2016-2017 school year as students will have to demonstrate that they can care for a paper version of an iPad before earning the right to use the real thing.

This picture shows a Roots student working on their individual playlist in order to access the material in a personalized manner.
