Green Lanyards

Giving students leadership roles to build culture and collaboration

The success of small groups or one-on-one conferencing often depends on an uninterrupted flow of instruction and engagement. Designating student helpers with Green Lanyards reduces interruptions and empowers self-directed learning by encouraging students to work through challenges collaboratively instead of going straight to the teacher. Students who demonstrate an ability to problem solve on their own can volunteer for the Green Lanyard, or they can be nominated by the teacher. Once named, students wear the lanyard during class, clearly signaling to peers their availability to provide tech support or answer content related questions.
