Guide: Christensen Institute: Knocking Down Barriers

How California superintendents are implementing blended learning

Overview

The Christensen Institute convened several California school district superintendents to answer the questions: "What are the barriers, real or perceived, to implementing blended learning in your district?" and "Have you found solutions or ways around these barriers?" This policy brief summarizes the answers to both of these questions to help other California superintendents who are struggling to implement high-quality blended learning find ways to work around these barriers. The resource specifically addresses how superintendents can redesign teacher roles given state policy and teachers union contract provisions in pages 2-5.
