Habits of Success Class

Teaching social-emotional skills to improve students’ lives and school culture

Context

Roots students develop social-emotional skills through daily curriculum, reflection, and skill-development tracking. During the Habits of Success learning time, Roots uses a research-based curriculum called Dovetail Learning. Roots believes these skills, in conjunction with academic success, can lead to more positive outcomes in students’ lives as a whole.

Habits of Success is taught every morning before breakfast using the Dovetail Curriculum and Toolbox. The Habits of Success teachers are also responsible for one-on-one coaching throughout the year. They meet with students for structured check-ins (approximately 10 minutes) about every two weeks and also respond to daily student issues as they arise.
