OER Evaluation Rubrics

Rubrics for evaluating rigor and curricular standards alignment

Overview

Whether you are evaluating existing Open Educational Resources (OER) or creating your own, you should use one of several existing tools to ensure quality and alignment. Many educators utilize Achieve’s EQuIP (Educators Evaluating the Quality of Instructional Products) rubrics or OER rubrics. EQuIP is an initiative designed to identify high-quality materials aligned to the Common Core State Standards in math and English or Next Generation Science Standards.

Another example is the Louisiana state rubrics, developed to help guide the selection of instructional materials that fully align to state standards (what students are expected to learn and be able to do at the end of each grade level or course). The rubrics help identify high-quality curriculum to support strong instruction.
