Overview
After making the decision to replace current social studies and science curricula, Liberty Public Schools was able to repurpose the money saved to support high-quality Open Educational Resources (OER) across the district. The district distributed this funding to support successful implementation in the following ways:
- Focused professional development to support specific curriculum: These expanded opportunities help teachers in specific subject areas learn how to create and curate OER.
- Innovative models of training and support: Teachers can experience and learn about new classroom models, such as project-based learning, that become more feasible to implement given the flexibility of OER.
By allocating funds toward training, Liberty was able to more easily transition educators and motivate buy-in around the content creation and curation that is needed for high-quality instructional materials in more engaging learning models.
