Overview
Garnet Valley School District has allocated time and money to ensure its teachers have a comprehensive professional development experience that yields strong outcomes for students. To ensure engagement and effectiveness of the additional PD opportunities:
- Teachers are provided substitutes when they are pulled out for professional development during the school day.
- Two of five in-service days are facilitated and run by teachers and school administrators. Teachers and school administrators are asked to propose sessions they want to engage with and learn about.
- School schedules and calendars are reworked to create spaces and times for teachers to meet before, during, and after school to collaborate.
